New Clone CD

boofo

u got the plextor 16 / 10 / 40 with firmware 1.04 right ?

if im not mistaken - i think your drive CAN copy SD2 disks with AWS just fine with or without the new version of clonecd

i think theres a 1.05 firmware upgrade for your drive - but i DO NOT recommend u updating your firmware - your drive is better with firmware 1.04 than 1.05 because 1.05 was made to prevent u from copying SD2 dics as measure against piracy

and if u do upgrade to 1.05 - you CANNOT down grade back to 1.04

BTW - theres nothing wrong with your drive - and i believe it should beable to copy SD2 right now even if u dont use clonecd 3202 - in fact your drive is a very good one too.

SD2 isnt that new its been out for a while - but i think they introduce a newer version of it a little while back. Most drives cannot copy SD2 (without clonecd) like mine (yamaha 2200s 20/10/40) because it a measure cdrw manufacturers and game publishers use to prevent software games piracy.

I didn't know that the amplify weak sectors option is only visible after the reading & in the recording mode.
Thanks ! :p

Can you tell me what have you gotten ?
(sorry for my poor English)

Plextor 16/10/40a

Shady,

I just checked Plextor's site and the latest firmware version that they have listed there is 1.04 (dated OCT 2001). I hope I didn't get the one that prevents the copying. :(

By the way, (not to sound stupid here) what is AWS?

So, is it the newer drives they are putting all of the copy protection stops on then? Like the 24 speeds and up? Maybe I got mine just in time, huh?

Where did you see the 1.05 upgrade at? (so I can avoid it)

I already asked this in an earlier message, but do you know of a program or a way of telling what kind of copy protection is on a CD (like a game or something)?

I'm fairly new at all of this and I'm havin' a blast learnin' and churnin' out CDs. I have been messing with a Virtual CD/DVD drive program called Fantom CD lately. I've been helping beta test it and it is one of the best programs out there. It is also a burning program and will burn CloneCD images as well as ISO, BIB/CUE and others. If you are into burning and converting images, you might want to check it out. They are about ready to release a final version (after the beta) that is chock full of goodies. I can't reveal all of them here, but, trust me, you'll be amazed. Check it out.

Sorry to get off of the subject there. :D

Do you think that ClonCD will have to put some sort of block on the Hide CDR Media and the Amplifyweak to satisfy the restrictions here in the states now that we have figured a way around it? I hope not. Thsi is a breakthrough, if it works as well as it is supposed to. Only time will tell, I guess.

It means my Plextor 12/10/32s now can copy SD2????

A lot of guys say Plextor can do it, but i can find the way, i have used clony but still dont have a working copy of SD2???

Plextor can copy sd2 or not?????

Plextor

According to what everyone has been saying, with the new CloneCD you shouldn't have any problems copying SD2. Just make sure that you have the AmplifyWeak enabled and that should do it. Good luck!

Amplifyweak

If you are running XP and have installed the latest version of CloneCD (3.2.0.2) then, yes, you do have amplifyweak in your regsitry. No way around it. :)

Here is the key to look for:

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-725345543-842925246-1343024091-1003\Software\Elaborate Bytes\CloneCD\Settings]

Look for the key AmplifyWeak under that and change the 0 to 1 and you should be all set. The easiest way to do it is change your country code in Windows to Canada(English) with the same time zone you are in in the US and re-install CloneCD fresh and that should do it.

Good Luck!

Hi there,

I use a Liten 24102 B which already can write SD2.

If I use the amplify function would it be better or better I just ignore it and makes no difference if on or off?

And for what is the HIDE CDR?
I thought the games will check if the original CD is insertet like "please insert original cd" ?

If I hide them, what will happen?
So I copy a SD2 game 1:1 and for what is this hiding good for ????

I personally have changed my region to Irelandbeing in the UK as everytthing is the same. Haven't tested it yet though. How can i test without burning ? If the discs in the tray are supposed to be red/yellow, then they are now ! Is there a simple test to check for "amplify weak" ? Also, where the hell in the registry ARE those two pesky critters ? I tried finding them first and with the find option, without success.

Is it that it is best for EVERY burn to enable CDR hiding AND enabling the amplify function?

So it won´t be an error if those options are enabled?
Also for other CD´s (and music?)

SO I will activate it always and don´t have to think about which protection is @ the cd and so on???

THX honey ;-)

To whom who can't find AmplifyWeak in registry...

Original Registry
-----------------------------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elaborate Bytes\CloneCD\Settings]
"AmplifyWeak"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1220945662-1060284298-842925246-1003\Software\Elaborate Bytes\CloneCD\Settings]
"AmplifyWeak"=dword:00000000
-----------------------------------------------

But I don't know if the second one will appear in the same location in different computer/user enviroment or not.
So I suggest using "Timothy2000" way to search the registry for "AmplifyWeak".

CloneCD

This is to Honey...

When you go into CloneCD to burn an image (in the Select CD Reader Screen) there is a LOAD button near the bottom of the box. I use that for whatever type of recording I am doing at the time. They are files that you can load according to what type of CD you want to record at the time. There is one called ProtCD (for Protected CD) and one for CDROM and one for Audio (and 2 others I think). These files will load the settings you need to use according to what you are doing. It pretty much sets itself up if you use these presets. Try it and see what you think. It makes everything a lot easier than trying to figure out which box to check for your settings and so on.

Good Luck and Enjoy!

THX bofo :)

But... it seems that there is still no need for CLONY and such databases?

Will the option audio also copy the new audio copy protection or do i have to set it to protected then?

CloneCD

As far as Clony and other databases goes, I don't know. I don't use Clony. Sorry.

As far as the new protection coming out on the new CDs, we will have to try that and see what happens. I have heard that NOTHING will work on those yet, but I haven't come across any to try. All I can say is try it and if nothing does work on it right now, I'm sure someone will be coming out either with an update that will work or a new program somewhere. It seems as they make the copy schemes, we break the copy schemes. It's just a back and forth game, I guess. Someone will always find a way to get through the schemes.

Hi!
I still use Win98SE and I have just installed CCD 3.2.0.2. Before installing the proggie, you should change your settings to English (Canada). Amplify Weak can then be enabled after installation!
pkwaf

Can somebody please explain to me what the "Hide CDR" option does and how and when do you use it...?

Hope one of the experts here can enlighten me...
