New Clone CD

I should Clarify here. The instructions I gave are for Win 2K or Xp.I believe 98 and Winme are different!

Woody, I am using Win98SE and the Canada routine works fine, very basic and straightforward.

Out of Interest, does Olli include the Republic Of Ireland as being in the UK? I think we have no digital protection bills at the moment, copying of CD's etc... the law is unclear as matters stand, the Irish Police have stated recently that they wouldn't go after people with back ups of software at home, an exception being ' back-ups ' of an OS.. ?! crucial to the machine's functioning.

New Clonecd & Hp 8230e

Need some Help. The new Clonecd 3211 No longer recoginzes an
Hp 8320e Usb ? Has anyone else had this problem ?

Not sure if those settings stick

After I rebooted my machine after modifying the amplifyweak to 1 in the registry, it reset it back to 0.

Anyone know a way to make it stick?

Strahlen,I think Ireland is considered a separate country.Anyways, it doesn't matter because the population of Canada has increased by thousands since this version of Clone Cd has been released!LOL!!

So relax ,and enjoy a very nice program!;)

Canada

ROFLMAO Great one, Woody!

As a matter of fact, I moved to Canada from the US about noon yesterday and I'm lovin' it! I think I'll stay!

REGistry setting, solution

here is the location of the setting:
note: you HAVE to run clonecd at least once to put the settings in the registry

run REGEDIT

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elaborate Bytes\CloneCD\Settings]
"AmplifyWeak"=dword:00000001

Hi All!
Can someone simplify this for me please:D If I change the "Amplifyweak" reg settings will this then turn on the functions or do I still have to change my regional settings? Also has anyone tried this in the new version 3.2.1.1?
Thanks!

CloneCD

I think it will revert back after a reboot unless you change your language settings to that of something other than the US or the UK. I have mine set to Canada (English) and I live in the US. It is working great here.

AmplifyWeak

Actually, I am running XP here in the USA. AmplifyWeak is only found once in the registry. I set the default from "0" to "1" and rebooted my PC. Still, I see no option for Amplify Weak anywhere in CloneCD. Am I missing something there?

Those of you that are looking for a way to make backups of those programs that contain those "weak" sectors, head on over to qqq.clonecd.net and pick up Clony for detecting what type of Copy Protection is on the CD and also get BetaBlocker. BetaBlocker is supposed to patch the weak sectors of an image file created with CloneCD.

Hope this helps anyone looking for an alternative solution.

The option to amplify weak sectors occurrs when you start the software burning process. There is an option that appears in one of the steps if you make the registry fix.:)

Regedit "tweak" doesn't seem to work?

I've tried the regedit tweak, searched and found "amplifyweak" changed value to 1, but this doesn't work for me? I'm running Windows XP Pro, which going off the posts on this forum this method should work?

Changing region to Canada does work, but as I'm not in Canada this is a pain, is there something else I need to do other than searching for amplifyweak in registry?

I could only find "amplifyweak" all one word rather than "amplify weak" as posted on the forum.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

CloneCD

Changing your settings to Canada (English) will be no different that what you are running now. Just make sure that you set the time zone to the same as you have now and you will NOT see any difference in the way Windows runs.

There is only one setting in the registry for "AmplifyWeak" on my system (I am running XP also) and yes, it is all one word.

Hope this helps.

AmplifyWeak

Ok, I read over in the CD Freaks Forum that like what other people are saying is that the option for Amplify Weak will only appear when writing an image. I tested this out, and indeed the Amplify Weak option is enabled, but grayed out for me to uncheck. Not a big deal to me, but it does work.

On a different not, can anyone help with the backup of Empire Earth? I bought the game and made a backup of it. It installs just fine, but will not play with the backup in the drive. Any help would be appreciated. Clony states that there is no copy protection on the disc. hmmm....

Firstly it is one word, AmplifyWeak in the registry and I too am in the same position as you. I would like a permanently registry fix or a crack of some type to make CloneCD work for us poor slobs in the USA or Great Britain without having to move to Canada. This is really something that CloneCd is disabled for us. Somehow there is something inherently wrong in that.

CloneCD

It has to do with the copy protection laws here and in the UK. We're lucky that there is even a fix and way around it. Until the copy protection laws here change, you'll have to either live without the AmplifyWeak option or change your settings (which in no way compromises Windows at all). Windows XP runs the same here as it did before I change the settings from US to Canada.

The copy protection laws here will not change that is the problem. The part of them that preclues a personal copy of software we buy is unconscionable and those who create copy protections must be challenged and their copy protections overcome (as is happening). I just think CloneCd should post a fix somewhere under some other name so we can stay in our home residence and still get the benefit of these changes they created. It is just weird that CloneCd is disabled for us. And yes, I moved to Canada to be able use it.
