Having trouble getting java to work :mad: Downloaded j2re 1.3.1_09 (for RedHat 9) did chmod a+x and ran the rpm but java is not installed in Mozilla Anyone got a step by step (simple) guide to install this.I believe I followed Sun Java's instuctions,but................. :confused:

Just tried Mandrake 9.1,bit of an improvement on 9 except the bootloader is screwed,in that you can put the bootloader on a floppy (my preference) but when you reboot you get this: 99 99 99 99 99 99 99.........etc This apart .......not bad ,a few more tweaks,particulary with the burning...

Anyone interested in a firewall ?? I'm using mandrake 9 but could not get shorewall to run (cos I'm a newbie with linux and don't understand bin/bash/bosh/etc !!!..............yet.) so this one has a nice gooey (gui) interface and is so easy even I can configure it :D...

They do "Window's for Dummies" anyone know of any good mags in the U.K doing "Linux for Idiot's" only I find it easier to read it and see the pics than read all the help files! It's hard going,but I'm gonna get there.................I hope.:confused:

O.k took me a couple of days to sort out my system and get Linux to dual boot .....sorted that out but forgot to have the external modem connected... IN XP the modem Drivers were installed from a floppy. Q. how do I install these drivers in linux ?? Linux does detect the modem but I can't...
