Anyone got or seen one of the Panasonic SW-9573-C mulit drives yet?
According to the brochures it supports DVD-RAM in the cartridge.
How does it handle 8cm round cartridges like the Maxell DRMH60?
I know it's a cartridge/tray load but I believe it is for 12cm cartridges.
Does it have an...
I've noticed that some of the Hong Kong/Taiwan based media company's are using what they call "open MID codes". i.e. multiple companies using the same MID code.
Doesn't this cause a problem for the drive manufacturers? i.e. As I understand it the MID code is used as a lookup to determine the...
Has anyone ever seen a list of ODMs of DVD burners that supply OEMs?
i.e. Pioneer do, BTC do, LiteOn do. Who else?
i.e. if I wanted to OEM/rebadge a drive, who should I talk to?

Has anyone seen any up to date stats (from NPD group, Santa Clara Consulting etc.) on the world wide sales of DVD media?

I'm trying to understand whether dye type is an issue with DVD recordable media or not.
Is there a good guide around? Everything I can find seems to be about CD recordable media. Do the same theories apply to DVD recordable media as CDs?

I have backup up a few DVDs with DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and ImgTool.
I understand that DVD Shrink re-encodes the movie to fit onto a single sided DVD-R.
In data compression. shrinking via a different algorithmn doesn't necessarily mean a loss of anything i.e. 7zip compresses 2-10% more...
I was down at Peter's (Landmass Shipping) factory outlet on Friday to get some Ritec 4x DVD-R ($2.30 each)
They offered me Databank Gold 4x for ($2.20 each) claiming that they were simply rebadged Ritek. This claim matched what I had been told previously.
During our conversation, another...
Can rip/burn DVDs ok om my Pioneer 106D.
Play back on PC is fine.
Play back of PAL DVDs on Pioneer DV-355 player in lounge is ok.
DV-355 is connected through Panasonic FJ-600 VCR to a 20+ year old PAL TV with only a RF input (i.e. no AV line in etc.).
Problem is NTSC DVDs playback in black &...
What are the implications of checking the "enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device" box under Win2kPro on a Pioneer DVR-106D?
As I understand it this allows the audio to be feed out digitally via the IDE bus rather than in analog via the DVD's D to A converter and then into the Sound...

I'm trying to archive data to DVD-R with Nero.
Nero comes back complaining that it can't create unique Joliet names for a few dozen files.
I have selected the relax ISO restrictions ("Allow pathdepth of more than 8 directories" and "Allow more than 255 characters in path") but neither seem to...
is there such a thing as an ATIP reader for DVD media?
I've been playing with CD-R ATIP Reader and CD-R Identifier and was curious if such a beast exists for recordable DVD media?
Any ideas?
