Updated Bootable Tools CD

Finally!!
Last night I managed to get two of the split files but no more than that, links being unresponsive.
Tonight I downloaded the whole file (solaris.zip) using FlashGet (this was necessary as the download involved over 20 retries), and can now extract the .iso file using the password - what a relief!
Again, thanks for all your hard and clever work, and for sharing it with those of us less diligent. (I look forward to seeing how your Tools CD develops, since it's already excellent.)

Thanks muchly Solaris

One question, I suppose you're using Bart's "loader.bin" in your .iso to start the boot process.

What cdimage.exe option did you use to hide "loader.bin" in your iso image?

I've been trying to find out how to do this for months!!

wat is the password, www.cdrsoft.cc?
i'm using winrar to extract it but got error : ! C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop\BootCD.zip: CRC failed in the encrypted file BootCD v1.1.iso (wrong password ?)

So far, all I had done with my burner was backing up data and making copies of whatever music and a few sw CD I had. I went to Bart's site to get a little idea of how to make bootable CDs and put off the project for when I would feel like I had time to do it...

My first attempt with the latest Nero did not get what I intended to have as a dir of the burnt CDRW showed the *.ima files... I then installed the latest CDMate and do not seem to be able to get, in the advanced mode, to the "boot CD" option, as the help file recommends. I then used WinISO 5.3 and it does not show this ISO as a bootable ISO.

I am unsure if this ISO does have all the files needed to be bootable. I see the diskem1x.bin file and wonder if that is the loader.

The only experience I have with such notions derives from IBM's boot manager which was part of the latest OS/2 versions. It was simply a small FAT-16 partition which needed to be the active partition. My understanding is that once the BIOS has finished its basic job, it tries to load the operating system at the start of the active partition. In the case of IBM's Boot Manager, the active partition contains a simple redirector to load one's choice. This active partition does not contain any operating system but a simple redirector to the operating system that will be loaded. Is this the equivalent function of diskem1x.bin? Can it be considered as the actual loader in the sense that is the only file that should be located at the beginning of the CD?

TIA,

Gilbert
