Hi, PC is going back to the shop and they will try a different brand of dvd writer in my machine. Thanks so much for all the help you have given me, i will let you know how i get on this time!

Got PC back from shop today, they have put in a pioneer one now. will test it tonight so fingers crossed you dont hear from me again on this thread lol.

Did you ever change the aspi layer from the 4.7X version?These files can be problematic.If you still have problems I would recommend changing to 460(1021).You can use Forceaspi.

Also make sure you're using decent media...the Pioneer is less picky,however.

Im having sooo much fun with this dvd writer (im not really)
right am using nero 6. for some reason the make dvd video option wasnt there. i un and reinstalled but nope. i ended up wiping the pc and installing fresh. i got one dvd written night before last.
last night went to set another one off. they were avi and other video format files, anyway i went to burn and the second i did it i got error message saying cant transcode? preperation failed. well along those lines.
un / reinstalled again to see if woulf fix, now missing the dvd video menu again. i really dont wanna have to wipe pc everytime nero plays up.
whats a good burning software? im trying to burn video files like avi etc. just stuff i downloaded, some tv shows etc. i dont know which one to try. i will need one that does menus etc as well.
