ok, i figure out what the problem is; the consultant who installed the hd for me put the hd directly to the motherboard instead of through the ide card that came with the HD;that's why it didnt see pass the 137 gig limit; ...
Did you bought an very old mobo? If not, the problem should be solved too, via BIOS upgrade and IDE driver update; so there is no need for the extra ide card;

about the "only 150 GB", scarecrow is right;

no, actually it's brand new motherboard my consultant picked up for me; the ide card came with the western digital hd so it didnt cost me anything, but it's good that i learn it can be done via bios upgrade and ide driver update as well.

btw, the hd is not 150 GB, it's 160 GB according to the ad and the box, so should i expect more than the amount scarecrow mentioned?

I have one Maxtor 6 L060J3 drive which has a nominal capacity of 60 GB- and formatted as a single FAT32 partition (default clustersize) it is measured by Windows as 50.5 GB or 54,301,392,896 bytes... it is a logical drive, so only 8-10 MB are cut over its maximum capacity.
The exact disk capacity (which moreover depends on the filesystem used) can be calculated from the HD specs, which can be found at the manufacturers' site.
