System upgrade .....wow!!

Thanks for reading….

After a long time of using a PIII @ 866Mhz with 384Mb Ram PC133, running windows 2000 Pro (sp2) I decided it was time for an upgrade, without spending a fortune.

Decided to go for a GA-7VKMLS mobo (so I could continue to use the same memory) and an AMD Athlon XP 2200+

The movie Showtime, this took me just over six and a half hours with my old system, with my new system it took just two hours.

The mobo has onboard 32Mb shared memory graphics but still runs DVD playback without a problem and all of the games I have run just fine.
Also has onboard LAN connector so I’ve freed up one of my PCI slots, as I don’t need to use my PCI LAN 10/100 network card.

All in all, very happy, major speed up without a big outlay of cash $$$$.

So what do you do with the time you've gained then Dreemtheef, surely you can't tell us that you use it for sleeping?? lol

My Wife calls it selective deafness if I close my eyes for more than five seconds. It's just not fair, it took me ages to perfect that mode. lol

Hey Dreemteef!

Just curious how much all up for the mobo and CPU?

and where abouts did you get them from?

Mosher

Not sure if it's the cheapest place but I got the parts from Tigerdirect.com

The mobo was about $53 and the CPU was $90
