Thanks for reading….
After a long time of using a PIII @ 866Mhz with 384Mb Ram PC133, running windows 2000 Pro (sp2) I decided it was time for an upgrade, without spending a fortune.
Decided to go for a GA-7VKMLS mobo (so I could continue to use the same memory) and an AMD Athlon XP 2200+
The movie Showtime, this took me just over six and a half hours with my old system, with my new system it took just two hours.
The mobo has onboard 32Mb shared memory graphics but still runs DVD playback without a problem and all of the games I have run just fine.
Also has onboard LAN connector so I’ve freed up one of my PCI slots, as I don’t need to use my PCI LAN 10/100 network card.
All in all, very happy, major speed up without a big outlay of cash $$$$.
