Am about to go look for a driver for my sound card now as suggested too. I'll let you know how that goes. ;)

it burns from hard drive to cd fine, but if I try cd to cd it reboots still.
With which BSOD message?

Did you update your soundcard drivers already?

Creative drivers: I guess at www.creative.com ...
Did you uninstall/remove the PX burning engine already?

Removing RecordNow or Sonic-something is done the usual way, but for some reason the drivers are left behind! Use the attachment to COMPLETELY remove Prassi engine powered software (requires reboot).
Download PX uninstall: http://www.dvdrbase.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=10252

Did you change your drive configuration already?

Setting the burner as master and the DVD-ROM as slave is either extremely simple, or extremely fussy- take it as you feel it.
You have to open the computer case, and set the burner back plate jumper to the "master" position, while setting the analogous jumper of the DVD-ROM to the "slave" position. If you use an 80-wire IDE cable you must also swap the IDE cable connectors between the two drives, if you use a 40-wire one this is not needed.
believe our member scarecrow, he knows what he is saying; :)

Plz notice that I don't claim that the pxengine necessarily conflicts with Nero- at least myself had no serious trouble putting together RecordNow and Nero 5.5 (Nero 6 is a different story), but a golden rule is that the less active drivers you have, the better...
Of course disabling the XP Imapi service is also warmly recommended- you will find plenty of info on howto by browsing the forum stickies.

Hey again :) When I got the BSOD it gave me that ***STOP stuff

eg. ***STOP: 0x0000008E(0xC0000005), 0xB6F83CD4, 0xB6DB12B8, 0x00000000)

but nothing more

eg. ***ha10kx2k.sys - Address B6F83CD4 base at B6F3D000, DateStamp 3e8b877f.

I did go to the Creative website and it scanned my computer and suggested some downloads, one of which was a newer soundcard driver, and I downloaded and installed it.

I had a look for a program called RecordNow or anything like that, and couldnt find one. I did download and apply that PX uninstall though.

I haven't done that slave and master stuff, cos I've never opened up a computer before so I don't wanna start messing stuff up!!

And I have the IMAPI thingy disabled, that was one of the first things I got told to do by someone else when the problems first started.

The pxengine could also be installed by Winamp professional v.5, or some Sonic DVD authoring application, or Prassi PrimoDVD.

If you don't use it at all, I don't see why it should stay... anyway, after removing the pxengine Winamp pro will only lose its CD-burning abilities, everything else will remain functional.

cause the BSOD still points to the Creative driver, it could be a hardware incompatibility; In which PCI slot is your sound card fitted?
maybe you can provide us a system log: http://www.lavalys.com/products/overview.php?pid=1&lang=en

you can't mess up something; as alternative let do this the "mastermind" who installed your drives in the current configuration; :rolleyes:

I removed winamp, it wasn't being used anyways so it was pointless keeping it. Am downloading Everest Home at the moment too, will post a log for you when it's installed. :D

remove RAID..
Start > Settings > Controll Panel > Software
there look for the entry: "Intel Application Accelerator" and uninstall that thing, then reboot;

move my sound card.. I have no idea how to do either of those things lol ! :confused:
Who did setup the PC for you, a friend or a shop?
but doesn't matter really, blame him and say he have to redo his job; and don't forget to complain about IDE drives configuration too;

We brought the computer about April this year, and the place we got it from set everything up for us. So I might give them a call back and tell them your suggestions and get them to fix it!
