Norton Ghost And NTFS File System ?

Ghost has no problems with imaging any NTFS version- but notice it will NOT store images on NTFS partitions, which is very sensible: Windows "auto correct" NTFS filesystem problems, and those "problems" can be new files found- in short, you risk your externally stored files being deleted or corrupted. Or even worse, if the NTFS filesystem uses encryption or compression (both managed by OS) you simply risk ending up with a totally damaged filesystem.
Personally I also use Acronis (native support for ext2/3 and ReiserFS filesystems), but for plain Windows users Ghost may be a better solution. Also notice that both DriveImage and Acronis do have problems restoring (or even creating) spanned data images (don't ask me why- I don't know... it just happens!), while Ghost does not have this problem.
Notice also that I favour Ghost Enterprise 7.5 instead of 2003... cannot store directly to DVD media, no extX support, but it should be considered 101% reliable, while this does not apply for ver. 2003.

Well worth the money, fine book sized manual too, clear and concise about the commands and switches to use.. also comes with Gdisk, a handy partion creator, eraser, hide tool.
Shop around for a price on the boxed version of Ghost 2003, prices vary wildly..

From my experience, you can have the other drive connected but why would you do that because they are practical identical. Just use a boot loader like XOSL and you can have it both way.
Now if only I can find a cheap price for True Image 6. I already spent $$ on DI.

I have 2 hard drives my old 8GB and my newer 40GB
I have installed XP Pro on the 8 along with all the main core of programs office, PSP, Via Voice and many more - all updated and clean
I Ghost this onto my 40 and use this to try out anything new and/or dubious once the 40 is full of rubbish I then Ghost the clean version on in a matter of minutes and start again

This article is absolutely irrelevant...
The procedure described there is NOT called cloning, but migration- and the Ghost manual describes fairly well how to cope with migration problems (usage of Microsoft's sysprep before imaging). Apparently that knowledgable lady did not bother to read the software manual before writing her educative article...
