PC-Guy is right, then we are able to look for conflicting drivers in your log file; possibly the Prassi/Veritas conflict;

thanx again DK

Well, this can be the reason:

File 'Drivers\PXHELP20.SYS': Ver=2.02.62a, size=20016 bytes, created 28/10/2003 11:02:00 (Prassi/Veritas driver for win 2K).

Maybe you should try to clean it with NeroCleanTool?

Your ASPI layer is borked (aspi32.sys and wnaspint.dll are from different versions). Use forceaspi 1.7 to remove what you have and install a working layer.
The pxhelper driver might or might not do damage- it depends on your system.

im not very pc literate, so if u could tell me where i can get it? and how it works?

thanx DK

Nero Clean Pack and ASPI attached :)

1. Install aspiinst v4.60 (1019)
2. Reboot
3. Install aspi32 v4.60 (1021)

If you still got problems try to clean with Nero Driver-CleanTool & RegistryChecker

Well, I found Adaptec ASPI v4.60 (1021) most stabile. Used it on Win 98 SE, later on WinME and now on WinXP Pro SP1 and never had problems. I have Force ASPI archived but never used it :)

@jasmin ?!

not suggesting use force aspi 1.7 then ?! :confused:

a lot of people have issues with adaptec's aspi :(
Sorry Viper I have to agree with jasmin on this one. :eek::) I don't like or use force aspi I've had nothing but problems with them. I always tell people to use Adaptec's ASPI.

ForceASPI 1.7 = Adaptec ASPI v4.60 (b1021) :)

but ForceASPI provides more than the plain ASPI layer:
it bypasses Adaptecs installation requirements; backup routine, restore routine and uninstall routine is included;

ForceASPI 1.7 uses the Adaptec files, and the script is absolutely clean (100% working).
What doesn't work in some systems is the old Adaptec ASPI report tool- use the one for 4.7X series instead, it does report properly a successful 4.6X installation as well.
