Maybe you could try to download the latest firmware and try opening the file with wordpad or something. Maybe you could access from there.

You simply cant hack a firmware by opening it in notepad. You need a firmware editing/hacking tool for that. Can't say I've ever seen one for Netgear, but you could search the Internet for one.
However, big warning here... if you do, you better be sure you know what you are doing. Otherwise you may fuxor-up your router BIOS, rendering the router a paperweight. This firmware cannot be done in DOS... only through the HTML interface... and if you mess that up. Read around the Internet and see how many peeps have followed this path only to wreck their toy. Is it worth the risk for this one page? You must answer that for yourself mojo.
