Hey.. its all in my Tutorial at http://www.cdrbase.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26515

But for TV episode DVD's, the disk size is not set to 4400, but to 1100 if 4 eps, 734 if 6 eps , etc (ie. 4400 / Number of Eps) assuming they are all of equal length. If they are not (like in Band of Brothers) I just add up the total time and use this to find the disk size.

time of Episode (in Min) X 4400
-----------------------------------------
Total time of all Eps (in min)

I encode each episode separately to its own folder (I run it all in Batch Mode).

To get the Menus, just play the dvd with WinDVD and hit the little Camera button (PowerDVD has the same), it saves a BMP file for ya which Maestro accepts no problem. If its an animated menu (like in Star Trek The Next Generation series) then these normally reside in the VTS_01_0.VOB file and I just use dvd2avi (save Project) to rip out the appropiate part your after (using the [ & ] to mark out start and end) and you end up with an extracted AC3 audio file and a project *.d2v file. Load this file into TMPGenc, load in DVD Template. I just do ES (Video only) as we already have the AC3 audio track. Hit Encode and when ready (1-2min later), load into Maestro for authoring.

Most TV episode dvd's tend to be poor quality even on the DVD. Look at the intro of the Simpsons series 1 or 2, its shocking with heaps of blocking in many scenes. With CCE the blocking does not get any worse, with IC7, dvd shrink, etc they all get worse INHO.

@Scarecrow, I know you like Procoder, so do I but its just to darn slow. I converted my Laser Disk captures of the Star Wars trilogy (eps 4, 5 & 6) with Procoder set to Highest Quality 2 pass VBR. It took approx 12hr to encode each. On Mastering Quality it was going to take 18hr and I run an AMD 2.6 CPU ! CCE did each with same settings in 3hrs. Only problem was DVD2SVCD /w CCE kept seeing the mpg files I'm trying to re-encode as NTSC when they were in fact PAL. So 12hr later with Procoder I finally got the files I was after.

audio commentary on side B?

I have a weird DVD that I'd like to copy. It's a two sided DVD5/DVD5 DVD. On side A there is a movie feature with regular "movie sound AC3" and on side B, there is the same movie again, but with audio commentary.
anything I can do to include the audio commentary track from side B with the movie feature from side A ?

I would like to compile a DVD5 with:

-movie feature from side A
-english AC3 from side A
-english audio commentary 2Ch from Side B

thanks
neb

btw the DVD is Neon Genesis: Death & Rebirth

nebulus_13,

Suggest using DVD editing tools VOBEdit and/or IFOEdit to “Compile” your “Customized” DVD. You can obtain information on how to use these tools at the below link.

thanks Coaster ... I've read some of the guides and they all talk about video streams... they talk about how to merge two movies from two sides of a DVD to one ... how to add extra video file...
I couldn't find an information on how to extract the AC3 part only and merge it with another video stream and make this extra audio stream available when playing the movie. Perhaps I've overlooked this informatio, but spending hours reading guides and messing around with files is not worth one audio commentary.

thank you for your response
