I have searched this awesome forum, done research (a little) on Linux, read help files on installation, but still I cant seem to get linux to install.
I wan to use Acronis OS for the multi-os loader. No problem, it installed fine. I am using a Laptop with NO floppy, so I opt for the boot from CD-Rom option. No problem. Linux mandrake boots from CD, gives a few screens, press enter, etc, then says cant find the install CD. Well, it's right there, same spot it loaded from.
I switch to Gentoo.... 1 CD, has to be easier... not. It loads like the usual DOS "look" and then nothing. It is waiting for a command or something from me. No where in the install files does it say anything about what to do next. I agree I am a NEWBIE to Linux, but come on....
I guess I need to leave Linux for the smart, and not for the dumb like me. I was looking for an alternative to Winblows, and to tell you the truth, its too hard.
Can anyone help an extreme newbie?
