Burn (S)VCD to a DVD+R without transcoding ?

Thanks very much, CM.

I tried your method again with my VCDs. Unfortunately, my Cyberhome can still play audio(48k AC3) only. Maybe my settop is not good enough. BTW, what are your players in which you succeeded?

I've just entered the world of DVD burner, before having the DVD installed I spend few weeks to gather some basic general information from newsgroup and web pages, and have a pretty good start so far.

1. I was able to use Nero to fill the DVD-RW with MPEG-1 without any converting, and the DVD plays great on my APEX player. I have to burn using DVD-ROM (UDF) v1.02

I check the disc and it has all .MPG files in the ROOT just like DATA copying. But some site mentions that (UDF) v1.02 should work with most DVD support DVD-RW and DVD+RW. I really like this option but since my APEX 1100 can play .MPG and .JPG etc. directly so I can't check for compatibility.

2. I then used TEMPenc to convert the Audio to 48mhz and used Ulead DVD MovieFactor v2.0 to burn them as standard DVD (VOB format). It took around 30-45 minutes (I forgot) to burn around 740 minutes of MPEG to DVD.

I tested and it works great except the video is about 2 seconds behind the Audio (ChikenMan suggested to use Maestro to rearange the Audio/Video but I haven't had the chance to try yet).

Well, I just share my own experience.

Thanks for that, yes many of the Apex dvd players can play raw mpg files directly off the DVD, but with many on a disk, the lack of menu to select the one you want and no chapters within each can be a bit annoying

Sync problems abound when converting VCD to DVD format.

Thanks for the reply. I will try to burn my vcd's mpg to a DVD-RW and see whether my Cyberhome can play it directly.

Cheers,
