I have this little problem.
XP has set up by default this "simple file sharing" thing, where if what I have read is correct youc annot connect to other machine in the workgroup as a normal user, it just permits all the connections via the guest account. That was ok at the beginning, but now I am starting to miss the ability to use the \\computer_name\c$ and similar administrative sharing options from Windows 2000. Everytime that I try to connect to my other machine (my workgroup is compossed of 2 machines joined by firewire, only TCP/IP and ICS running) using the c$ administrative sharing I get the connect logon screen but the guest account is been used and is impossible to change it to administrator or other user account.
How can I connect as another user? I think it was a way to do this in W2000 but I really don't remember (something like "connect as other user" or using the user@computer\\... way.
I have tried dissabling the "simple file sharing" thing, but I still cannot connect with my user accounts because they use blank passwords and it seems like XP doesn't permit network connections using blank password accounts. I dpon't want to put passwords to my user accounts because they had to be entered everytime the computer turns on and I don't need this kind of security (I actually have only 1 user per machine and it has admin priviligies). I don't understand why Microsoft has to complicate a simple thing like file sharing in this way in XP! It was working very well in W2000.
I really apreciate the help.
