XP trouble still..

I've downloaded the updated drivers for xp but still can't my pc to recognise my cd burner (HP 8220E). I am using clone cd3.3.4.1, are there any features that i have to disable in my control panel to get it to work? Do i have to load any other software?

Help, this is doing my head in...

I am not sure but i don't think that clonecd uses the aspi layer. This writer isn't supported by clonecd

Ok ... Let's start at the top ...

1st problem - XP ....

"re-format - install win2k" - Works everytime.

ASPI layer for XP - Grab ForceASPI From the other thread on this forum. Works great ... EVEN for XP !

pokopiko is correct about 4.70, it is a troublemaker - but 4.60 worked fine.

Q - HP Burners - Best way to deal with them?
A - "Dont!"

Q - Alternative
A - Plextor!

Q - Wants to really nail it down?
A - Buy SCSI

You may find that if you follow those steps any one of them along the way will fix the problem ... and the coolest thing is you can usually solve the problems by going either direction, meaning start from the top or bottom .... But just the fact youre using XP puts you in a VERY common group right now, TONS of people are having all sorts of problems all over the web.

I personally have XP working pretty good, no serious or stopping issues but they took a long time to weed out all of the kinks. I still have XP on a drive but continue to boot to win2k each day to avoid any issues ... Its fast and stable, what more can you ask for?

XP's biggest issues are caused by Micro$haft assuming all users are idiots and need their hands held. I wish they would stick to 2 OS's ... A power users OS (win2k) and a "Waaaa I want my mommy" OS's (XP) ...

If you dont want to do any of the above then you have 2 options ....

1) Wait for a fix (many users have already been waiting for things for a very long time)

2) Find another program.

Thos are BS options if you ask me!

=-)

List some of your system stats and maybe something that rings a bell to someone might show up and we could help you better.

Marco-Polo,
As KNeptune said, Post more specs. After checking Clone's website(h**p://www.elby.org/CloneCD/english/cdr_h.htm), I do see your burner on their list of supported drives. I think I see it listed as a USB burner.
Also, when you say that you can't get your PC to recognise your burner, do you not see it listed in "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer" ?
Or do you see it in the above & not in Clone CD?

Let us know....OK?
