XP SP1 Build 1068 How to clear Spyware

Hello all

A friend of mine has just installed XP SP1 Build 1068
after changing his PID Key from the famous one.
Before applying the update but after changing the
PID Key he went on the Microsoft Update site
and Updated no problem..
After installing SP1 1068 there were so nasty bits
installed along with the SP1 files 3 of the bits he
managed to find were a new folder in the C Drive

1 = Idwlog with some interesting contents In C Drive

2 = A planted cookie containing Info

3 = An ldwlog.exe Installed into the Startup Folder

Plus How much More Hidden.. Any Help to
clean to be safe from big brother...

he does not want to try an MS update site Visit
until HELP arrives reguarding the hidden Info
that has been collected In the Idwlog Files

Thanks for any Input

check out the windows directory

there is a new folder created after installed sp1 and its called ehome

the applications inside i have no idea what both do
but one is titled snchk

if i think what it might be is sn = serial number, chk = check

there is serial number checker !

sp1 idlog

once you installed it...then apparently your sucessful..just delete that cookie in C:\ delete the Folder in the C:\ and to to start/program/startup and delete the idwlog.exe and it wont startup during boot..and you wont see it again

Use a program like Uninstall Manager ny Nokta Soft to see exactly what files are added to the system. The delete the junk if not needed. Always do this when you don´t relay on an install.

Hmm... Nokta Soft Uninstall Manager
Does it really work ?
Most of da usual uninstall managers are crap and are not even able to log all changes, especially registy entries
And not to talk about a clean uninstall
Can yo tell me more ?

Uninstall Manager is a fast file removal program. When first opened, the program takes a snapshot of your hard drive, and backs up your Startup and Registry files. Subsequently running the program automatically shows any new files that have been added to your drive. This scan is performed in lightning time, and once completed, allows for easy removal of any new files, in addition to a manual restoration of your Registry. Though billed as an uninstall program, this is really more of a file maintainance utility that performs a valuable service, and performs it well.

Big thanx to lazor
I really appreciate yo work and kindness
In fact, you're right - every uninstall, if you want to make it clean, needs manual intervention, since almost all progs don't have a good uninstall-routine
Well, seems this prog can get very helpfull, even if handwork is still required
Thanx again, man
