XP Registration - Dumb question!!!

Thanks for reading this post.

Although not a newbie, something has been puzzling me.

I run XP on a dual boot along side 98SE. I made a copy of XP Home Ed from an original CD and used the SAD Team Patch to over come the Product Activation. I've been running XP with no problems at all now for about 3 months.

My question is: as I take a look at this excellent forum every day, I see threads about XP and activation and blue list serial generators and corporate codes and how to convert your Home Ed to the Corporate Ed....etc. If the SAD Team Patch does the job of sorting out the Product Activation, then why would you have to bother with key generators and Home Ed to Corporate Ed conversions??

I have the key gen posted from on this forum but didn't use it, as I used the SAD Team Patch. Reading about some people's experiences with M$ informing them during an update that the key they are using is compromised or stolen and then locking up their OS, it puzzles me as to why everyone doesn't just use the Patch...or am I missing something.

Also if anyone could be helpful enough to give me a URL for these Corporate files, which from what I've read, are about 13Mb in size, that would be a big help, as I fany having a go at the Home to Corporate conversion. I'm not being a lazy swine here, as I have looked, put it through various search engines but I'm not really getting anywhere fast, tend to get the same URL and most are dead links or have been removed.

Thanks for your time, looking forward to some good answers, as I know we have some very knowledgeable people on here.

....DreeM :)

Additional: The XP copy I made was from a CD that came with a Gate Way computer systems, not sure if this makes a difference or is relevant but thought it might be useful info to know when answering my request, (OEM....etc), but it is the full XP @ approx' 568 Mb's or so on the CD, can't remember the exact figure.

You can try the following url:
h**p://www.mwright.plus.com/xp.htm
Maybe it will help you, but it did not help me as I'm running XP Pro Dutch
I 'm trying to find a way for the dutch version.
