writing quality

I would like to check the writing quality but have no Lite-On writer. What to do ? Could anyone recommend a program like WSES ?

???? OK so which brand of writer do you have if any and what do you mean by writing quality? You have no lite-on.
1st thing to do is let us know your pc set up, then what your trying to achieve.

Your writing quality could be checked if you burn with programs that verify the written data vs. the ones at disk or CD, and they are plenty of them.

The test in Nero CDSpeed might work (quality check and surface scan) - but it seems that it's not reckoned to be the most reliable of testers - though if your drive can report "damaged" (yellow) then it should be better than a verify.

Verify proves the data could be read, but doesn't make any distinction over how difficult it was to read.

Very well put LTR12101B!

Your response is what I interpreted from the original post, but I cant be 100% sure. I have LiteOns but I have never used WSES, so I really cant address that part of the post...I have always used CDSpeed for the media itself.

As for actual verification of written data, doesnt Nero have this capability? I know that I have used it when burning .iso(s) ...

if you look at a file listen, or whatever. if it sounds the same you got good quality if it dont sound or look the same you have bad quality LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a PlexWriter PX-W4824A and a Lite-On LTD163D.
I'd like to check C1/C2 errors as CDFREAKS does it written in an article about writing quality of the PlexWriter.

Cdrinfo and Cdrlabs also have some in depth reviews of readers/writers and their error correction qualities, reading/writing,etc.These can only be used as guidelines because media and software, and reading/writing speed, also come in to play(results may vary).;)

Thanks for that one Woody! I had not encountered that app before... Does it do its job well? I would hope that it does considering the $50 price tag it has!
