My cousin lent me his bought version of xp pro,he has installed it on both his computers,all updates work fine,i tried on mine and cannot update just sits there,i formated drive and tried from scratch no updates?Any one had this problem,my previous version was win98se.

are you running a fire wall ? this will Prevent Microsoft From spying on you to see what you have installed .

ya im running zonealarm pro,but i connect to all sites no problem with it,i even download 98 stuff from xp but no xp downloads???

i am using Sygate firewall but have to exit from it before i can get onto xp update site, strange that but it works

How did he install the same "bought" copy on 2 machines? heard of MS Product Activation. i'm thinking your discussing a pirated version of XP and you should be aware that is against the forum code of conduct. so answer to your question...

1. buy the your on damn copy of XP and then call/email MS for support. (a wonderful service MS provides to those who pay for a licence)

2. if your too tight to buy it, go elsewhere.
