Windows XP Question

I accidentally changed the way my directory structure looks.. It seems to all be in alphabetical order per dir.. I cannot figure out how I did it either.. I'm going to be reinstalling XP and figured one of you 'gurus' would know exactly how I did it.. :)

I made a test directory with general dirs inside it.. hopefully that will give an idea of what I did..

Thanx if you guys know.. :)

I have attached a picture that should explain it..

I used that freeware thing, but deleted it fairly quickly.. So I take it that's NOT part of Windows? Damn.. I liked it too..

theres no need to reinstall windows

you *most probably* selected "show in groups"

remove option by . . . .
1. listing the directory in explorer
2. right mouse button click for menu
3. highlight "arrange icons by" . . .
4. uncheck "show in groups"

You're a god!!! Thank you..

that's *EXACTLY* what it turned out to be..

I actually 'like' it that way, but now I know how to get it back.. I didn't have to reinstall Windows afterall, so I'm curious: Is this a default XP view?

the grouping is not xp's default view...you prolly made it default with your tweaking proggie or you clicked on the button which makes it default <shrug>

in explorer

tools\folder options\view tab\ apply to folders button....

you can change it back to xp's default by using the above - instead of apply folders button - click on the reset all folders.
