Windows problem after reinstall

Ive just re installed XP off the recovery disc that came with my PC. Every thing seems ok up to now except when Im dragging windows accross the screen they are really slow and jerky.
Anyone any ideas?

I have the same problem everytime I reinstall WindowsXP. For me it's the Video drivers. The ones Windows install are just to get you up and running. Just for compatability, not supposed to be permanent. After I update my vid drivers and reboot I'm fine.

A telltale sign is that I cannot go into standby mode on the shutdown screen.

I have exactly the same problem. I didn't know the 2 problems were linked in any way.
Where do I get these video drivers? Would I get them from the manufacturers website (Mesh)?

Mesh is an english retailer, if I'm not wrong- the video card should be either Nvidia or ATI based- so the analogous generic driver from those companys should be just fine.

You're right its an ATI card. I'll check their site out. Cheers lads for your help.
