Windows Media Player 8

I just heard that Microsoft has admitted that WMP 8 makes a list of all the files that are played on it and also that Microsoft collects these lists. I really don't like the idea of microsoft spying on me and i was wondering either a way to keep this list from being created or at least keep this list out of the hands of everyone. If any of you guys have any suggestions they would be appreciated. It is also possible that i'm way off here and microsoft would never spy on its consumers, ha ha. Thanks.

I like Irfanview. It is a media player and a viewer all in one and it is freeware. I heard about it from Dividezero's forum and tried it out and so far I like it.

Hey dudes....check out this thread

(now corrected, thanks Blakie :D )

Scroll to the bottom of page 1 and read, "disable supercookie" by WM5050. With this fix Windows may make its list, but they will not know who you are due to the fact that you Windows Media Player has no ID anymore.

I downloaded it back then, installed it, and have checked to see if the ID had returned several times. NOPE, no ID!
