Under XP it's rare, but a common case under NT and 2000:

Under XP it should work if running your program in compatibility mode... else I may suggest that you have installed that ultrabeta Service Pack 2 release candidate(s) and something is seriously screwed...

this has only happend twice when i am trying to install a new program, actually it is the drivers for my printer and the VIA 4in1 chipset drivers, I will study the page posted and see if i can resolve the problem, thanks again
