Will Microcrap Ever Get It right???

Introduction

There's been quite a delay for Windows XP Service Pack 2, with good reason: overwhelming security holes found within the Windows operating system. Turn your head for only a few moments, and another patch is released under the "Critical" heading in of Microsoft's Windows XP Update tool. It gives us great concern that despite the money we've spent so many cumulating holes open us up to the world of the unknown.
Check out the rest of the store.

He has released the beta release on WINDOWS XP SP2 I havent tried it and I dont intend to either.. Again full of horrible buggs...

Cant agree more bud, M$ have been pathetic with their security & even though we pay through the nose for XP, we still pay a high price with the bugs & holes in it :(

What DOES the future hold for Windows - One thing's for sure, if they ever deliver a bug-free, "final" version, they're dead!

There are only 3 reasons to purchase a new operating system.
1. You get it with a new computer (along with a ton of other stuff supposedly with a total value greater than the hardware).
2. You want the features it offers (or you succumb to the hype - eg. "Start me Up").
3. You are forced to upgrade by built-in obsolescence.

The rush of new and upgraded computers is subsiding.
Those who want features or can be hyped already have been, or are getting tired of it.
And forcing upgrades is being met with increasing resistance.

Do I want Microsoft, and their "trusted" computing, and their enforced policy changes, DMCA-stuffing upgrades on my machine in the next 5-10 years? - well, actually, NO!

While everyone points to LINUX as the alternative, almost unnoticed, "free personal use" versions of BeOS have been popping up in a few places, and possibly a stronger alternative on the desktop than Linux is.

Not that I want to sound like I'm a big defender or M$ its products or business policies... but the other major O.S.'s out there are not bullet proof either. Apple's MAC 10.2 O.S. and the many flavours of Linux also have their holes. In fact OSX 10.2 (Panther) patched several rather large holes in OS 10.1 (Jaguar).

It's just no fun coding hacks, viruses, and exploits for the others, when most of the world is using M$ Operating Systems. That is to say, if you were one of these little weenies and you wanted to take out most of the worlds computers... which would you choose?! Do the math.

Sad to say, but since Microsoft's Windows code was leaked to the outside world recently... we are going to see alot more of these holes exploited. It's only going to get worse folks... :(
