on writing a svcd and playing it in a dvd player i only get sound and no pictures why? can anyone help me please.

you should provide us more details:

Does the SVCD work O.K. in your PC?
Which software and which settings did you use to create/burn the SVCD?
Which media brand have you used?
Is your standalone player SVCD compatible?
What model is your standalone player?
Which firmware version does your standalone player have?

Greetings from

sorry i am new to all this but here goes my dvd player does reconise a svcd it plays the sound but no pictures also the same on pc, i used nero to burn a svcd the file was avi type ,the cd is sirius cdr type also i set nero to burn a svcd, i hope this helps? ta

Is their sound in the avi when you play it back in windows !?

you may have a missing audio codec for decoding the audio track when converting :)

check the codecs with GSPOT download it here and see what codecs the audio is then use google to find and download the correct one and then install it :)

yes there is sound both in the dvd player and the pc,but no picture on both the original avi plays fine on pc?

Are you using Nero to do the avi to svcd conversion? If so I'd suggest there lies the problem. Check out the Tutorial section for a better alternative method.
