which Nero version is stable?

I been hearing a lot about the newest version of Nero 5.5.7.2 that it is buggy. So which version is good and stable ?

Best Nero should be;

5048(works good for me and other people)and last4 version--4091(worked perfect on my pc,no coasters atall). Both are 100%recomended,and will work troublefree. Both versions on ahead site, download and reply here, and somebody will post serial#:) That was a strongest Nero ever:cool: Choose first 5048 cose its bigger chance to get supported drive:)

what about a stable version in the 5.5.x.x series? I need a stable version that supports my Liteon 24x burner.

For me 5572 worked(burned some cds),but on forums i saw that people like more 5569 and 5564....and in every case dont use incd and avoid nero for making svcd(it works fast, but quality is bad....Use tmpegenc for that):)

does old version 5.x.x.x supports the Liteon 24x burner? If it does, i want to use that. Are there any other good software out there that can handle cross-fade with audio cd? I have Feurio, but i don't think it supports cross-fade. If it does, then i don't know how to use that option.

I'm running 5.5.5.1 and the first 5.5.x version I found stable on my system. Havent installed any later version. You know, when on a good thing stick to it.

I'm on Win2000 but its reported to be XP compatable.

It came with 5S04 and I upped it 5S07 that day. Then found all my other burning software could not see it except Nero 5.5.5.1 so first test run was with Nero.

i guess i can give older version a try or I just install the nero version that came with my Liteon retail package. What do you guys think?

i mean i don't really have problems with Nero. I was just wondering why you guys keep saying it's buggy. I have many burning software. nero is not the main one for me. VOB is a pretty good program.

I have nero 5.0.1.0 which had the 2 buffer bars(used & Recorder) locked on at 99% but had 3 problems when running norton utillities which could not fix.Burning with no probs

Now im using nero 5.5.7.2 ,the used buffer locked on at 98% and recorder buffer locked on at 96%.No problems with norton Utillites & burning.
Does anyone get the buffer bars problem with nero 5.5.7.2?

I've tested them all & the best ones IMFO are:
5551/5564/5569.

So far 5572 has been alright (no issues I can tell of yet), but since many others are having a problem, I would say you either score or miss with it.
I wonder what aspi layers people are using also.
Found from some testing with some friends (all over the world), that the latest aspi layers from Adaptec (I think they are 4.6 & 4.7) aren't very good. Infact they create a lot of the coasters people are getting, so I would just stick with the old APSI layers that have been around the net for a while now (at least for winXP systems).

Cheers.

Not sure on all the fuss about ASPI layer to be honest. I run Win2000 SP2 and have NOT installed any ASPI layer, I use whats came with Windows or installed by these programs. I have Nero 5.5.5.1, Diskjugler 3.5.800, CDRWin 3.8f, Click'nBurn Pro 2, NTI 2000 Pro 5.0.15 and CloneCD 3.2.11 installed and all are running perfectly together. My readers and burner are IDE.

I have no probs with EAC or SmartRipper and others for Audio or Video extraction. So I'm really stumped as to why I or anyone else really need to install any extra ASPI layer files.

Can anyone explain the real need for an ASPI layer and why one is better (if at all) than another.

I'll give it a shot ChickenMan.
The aspi layers is due mainly for WinXP users (& a few win2K).
WinXP doesn't come with aspi support, only roxio crapwear. So if you try installing most burning software, it won't work. Usually gives you some error about not being able to find aspi layers.
Some software (the newer ones) don't need them anymore, well I should say they need them, but actually already installs them for you if your system doesn't have them (eg: Nero, CDRwin, CloneCD).
That's the only real fuss about them.
On the other hand, I have a friend on win2K that doesn't seem to have aspi layers installed into it either, so he also had to install them.
Most people use this one (which is actually a layer taken from win9X & winNT systems):
h**p://xp.xyu.ca/drivers.htm which is the good one to use. Adaptec have just recently released some newer ones, but most who have been using them find it to be junk. Probs another way for them to keep their software/hardware looking better (I don't really know).
Anyhow, there is no need to install ASPI layers, unless your software doesn't work, so if your system is working, leave as is =)
