which linux?

I would go ahead with Red Hat (possibly best one out there), but Mandrake is also good. SuSe is also fairly easy (all depends on the user).
Quite a few to choose from (HP has one also that is good *has highest security settings)

For begginers Mandrake, SuSe for those who had expirience, but maybe I'm wrong since poko said new SuSe 8.2 pro is easy to install and use, and I still didn't have a chance to test it. :(

Okay, my opinon:
SuSE is really easy to use, so if you want a sneak preview into the "freak" linux world, then get this one.
You will get a nice documentation with this distribution.
So if you want to use Linux for a desktop I think SuSE is the way to go ..

If you plan to make a server enviroment, better stick to RedHat.
RedHat is the best IMHO, though that is a issue of personal taste ..
so,

SuSE = desktop
RedHat = server
That is what I think about this :)

I recommend SuSE 8.0. I have this release (7 CD's) and it is worth the trouble to buy it. If you are a novice with Linux, I think that this and Mandrake are the best options.
