what should i use for partition ???

hi

i have WD 40GB7200 and i want to make a Partition, i allways use the EZ program from WD. but some one tel me that EZ is bad program and it's creat a bad Sector !!!

so what every 1 use here i allways hare about Partition Magic but this it's 20MB and i think it's work only in windows not in the DOS and try to download the DOS version from CDRSOFT.CC but the link is dead or something.

and also the FDISK is very hard.

so can Partition Magic DOS version do the same as EZ and can work with all HD ???

try using the search button. This topic has come up quite a few times.
Just typing in partition will give you several pages worth.
Anyhow, I did an easy to follow tut (I guess you can call it that) for this before:

this way you don't need 3rd party software. But if you do use, then more details in there.

U can use Partition Magic from windows.
Or u can try making it from dos booting from a windows98 cd or linux cd (easier) suggest u slackware's cd.

If your running Win9X or below.. Partition Magic will run in dos. When you install it in Windows, it creates an executeable that can be run in dos.

If your running WinMe or above, or Nt4 or above, You simply can't run it in dos.. as drivers for certain file systems that are required can't be loaded. This is for your protection and your systems. There is a way around it, to run it in DOS, but I wouldn't recommend it at all. You'll ruin your O.S.

As for WD's Easy Setup.. yeah.. it ruins your hard drive and makes it impossible to repartition, etc.. without erasing the whole hard drive. Stay away!

Your best bet.. is use a Win9X boot disk, partition and format. Then install your o.s. Then install Partition Magic and redo your partitions whenever you want to the way you want. Simple.
