I'm thinking of installing Mandrake 9 as a second OS... just for messing about with of course, XP Pro is good for compatibility.

work-

Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 1 installed ...
Was stable for quite some time .. have some troubles in the last days ... I might have to reinstall :(

I use Windows2000pro, on top of which is redhat, another w2000pro and w98.
Regarding Linux, my only success (with my limited capability) is Redhat 7.3

multiple Bootsystem:
1 x W98SE for gaming
1 x W2kSP2 for music mastering/remastering
1 x W2kSP3 for the rest (our forum inclusive)

Dual boot 98SE(Gaming) and XP.
I have a spare rig thsat I plan to learn Redhat 8.o and Suse 8.0 and maybe then move on to deblian

W98SE with IE55 SR1 is still the best stable solution :))

I never got XP and W2k running stable over 2 months uptime!!!
But with 98 i once reached 5 months until there was no power available :(

I'm actually considering going back from XP Pro to 98SE, I don't know what things XP is doing behind my back, 98 is nice and simple.

I use Mandrake Linux 9 & W2K at home and
W2K & OS/2 at work.

XP sucks, 6 reinstallation i 3 months. so now im back til W2K.

I'm using Windows .NET Enterprise Server RC1 Build 3663.
Very stable (even better than Win2K Advance Server, I feel...), excellent hardware compatibility, built in IIS 6, Windows Media Server..and much more! The best platform for .NET development.

what gets me is how many have bought the pro version...it costs a fair bit more then home.... maybe piracy is rampant in our membership. i can see 10-20% paying the extra for pro but not 90%

Mine is the original boxed update to XP Pro and was bought and paid for and installed on the official release date :D
B4 you ask I actually have an original Windows 98 (so XP Pro update is legit. )but that is gathering dust now...

I've not tried Windows 2000 yet but XP Pro has been excellent, currently running SP1 without any problems.

Have run Windows 98, 98SE, ME and XP Pro as well as using and supporting NT. XP is the one to go for.
