kazaa for video and music as its muti threading and faster
Win MX but with more servers added as its crap without
for mp3 !

edonkey for iso and full cd stuff !

I think VIPER_1069's pretty much nailed it! The problem with Kazaa for music is that it mostly has 128 bitrate.
The problem with WinMX with music is u get lots of hits but sometimes it's hard to find anything to come in with any speed! What i like to do is load up a bunch at night & select "Auto-Rety", that way they don't crap out on ya!

Cheers!

@ KennDogg:

there are many mp3s on kazaa that have better quality than 128. search for limitbitrate in the registry, increase the number (in hexadecimal). then start kazaa/grokster/kazaa lite, extended search options, and say minimal bitrate 320 kbs, you'll see, you get enough hits if it's a famous song. I prefer wav files, with my dsl connection it's just a matter of minutes till I get the file.
so kazaa lite is my first choice, but not grokster, because it doesn't support ultrapeers change, meaning you can't do extended searches, which is important for rare files. still, I sometimes use grokster, it looks nicer than kazaa lite, at least in my opinion.

the problem is of course software. edonkey sucks, everyone knows that. the protokol is completely outdated. but what can you do? there's no alternative. most software you can find only on edonkey.

what really is senseless, is the whole gnutella protokol. it's slow and I never managed to find anything there, and even if I found anything, I never managed to download, and even if the download started once in a 1000 years, it was slower than on donkey

Xolox (don't believe the BS about it crashing system... as I've had since v1 and never a crash).
This is for any type of file (it is similar to kazza).

KennDogg,

It is true that Kazaa is configured to search for MP3s coded in 128 bits.
In order to change that please type Regedit in the Run option.
Then look for in the left window for this registry key:
hkey_current_user>software>kazaaa
In the right window you will find a data named LimitBitrate. Double click on it. A window will appear. Then replace "1" by "0".
Close the registry and reboot. Kazaa is now well configure to accept any bitrate.

PS: save your registry first before to do any modification to it!
