What is the Best DVD Movie Copying Software?

I use SmartRipper and DVDx 1.7 but it still doesn't seem to want to make good copies with both the audio and video sychronised. It takes hours to rip and encode and then the final mpeg just isn't up to speed. Is there any other programs available that may do a better job?

If It is takeing you hours to Rip and movie and more hopurs to encode a movie then you are either doing it wrong or you have an extremely slow system..My system takes 15 minutes to Rip a DVD with Smatripper and about 2 hours to encode a 2 hour movie to SVCD...so 2.5 hours isn"t very long you could barely watch the movie in that time....Check out the Tut"s as mentioned Above and I"m sure you will find a Faster method...

Hi,

Encoding to .MPG is very hardware dependant, meaning how powerful your CPU is, speed of your h/d and amount of RAM in PC.

This is easy: DVD2SVCD

- Built-in ripper (vStrip)
- Very high quality video encode (Cinemacraft/TMPG)
- Very high quality audio encode (BeSweet)
- SVCD/VCD
- DVDr (Yes, not a typo - DVDr!)
- The best part is: This all can be done with 3 mouse clicks!

I don"t have a Super fast Machine Probably average for these days..I have a 1.7ghz Intel Celeron(OverClocked-1.87ghz) with 256mb ram and a Couple 7200rpm Ultra-ata/100 Drives...It"s nothing special ....If you encode with CCE you can get real time encodeing with a system that isn"t very fast, I encode at anywere from 0.9 Real time to 1.2real time it actually takes longer to author the SVCD"s with menu"s and Titles and stuff then Burning at a low speed to avoid errors, that is the long part...

the other thing to remember when encoding to svcd, vcd, or divx is the number of passes you want to encode at (how many times it encodes the movie for optimum quality) and if you have any visual filters (blurring, resampling etc).

I always to a 2 pass divx for optimum quality we a bicubic or neutral resample, so on my atlhon 1400 its takes about 6 hours in total for this.

svcd, i haven't tried yet.

I use myDVD 3.5 which is now excellent burns every dvd that I want with great picture quality and sound.

I agree with vcd_pat, but I have to say mpeg is not good choice like mpeg4 (DivX or XviD).
I'm using DVD Decrypter for grabbing (new version is much better than any DVD grab tool).
For encoding you can use Vidomi (all in one - encoding in mpeg also...) or like I do;
DVD2AVI for preparing project for GordianKnot, separating AC3 for encoding with BeSweet
and Nandub for joining mp3 (with surround) and avi file...
I'm using DivX Pro 5.0.2 two pass...
