What do you want to be

When you read this comment, please keep in mind that it is written by a person who was a completely newbie just 2 weeks ago, and that I'm suffering from an extremely slow and nonrelaiable Internet connection, (but I'm just greatfull to have one), why surfing for inf takes me many, many hours.

Then let me inform you, that I do think cdrsoft and the forum is great. The goldmembers here do really know their stuff, and you do never need to wait long to get the wanted help. It's a high quality site, and I do hope it is going to stay that way.

But being looking around in diff. parts of the forum for about 2 weeks now, I have noticed that many users, from my point of view, are misusing the great help and workforce of the people maintaining this forum. As the very nice people you are, you are not letting anybody down, you do answer ALL the quistions, even those who are so obviosly that a first day computer user can answer it. (The answer to many of those quistions are on the first page in the manual, or pop up as the first search result in Google. (Please ref. to my post in "Newbies" today)). Others ask quistions which have been answered (often many times) earlier in the forum. Many people ask quistions which are answered in the great tutorials at your or other sites. Many people ask quistions which has nothing to do with the subjects of this forum.

And then I start to ask my self: If this goes on, where will cdrsoft end up? Going on like this the forum will end up being completely useless to people who are not to lazy to do their homework first (read the manual, search the net/forum for answer etc. etc.), before they ask the forum. Those people will have to go through a lot of crap and nonsens to find what they are looking for, and the people who really know their stuff and can answer the hard quistions will get bored and stop entering the forum.

You great guys maintaining this forum should start ask your self:
What do we want to be? A free workforce for lazy people or a great site for providing information and real knowhow?

I do not hope I have offended anyone bye saying this!!!

thx for the flowers :)

Yeah, you are right, it is easier for people to post in here, then using google or something like this ...
You know, we all work hard to keep the forum up to date, and help the people here ...
As soon as we have a big enough database of answered question, I guess we will start to tell people to use the search function, instead of posting the answers again and again .. :)

so far ;)

ThaiJan.Thanks for the compliments.

Yes,the same questions are asked a lot.

Some questions are off topic,we move what we see as blatant to the proper forums. This does take time though, that can be spent helping people! We are trying our best to make this an enjoyable place.

I agree with N.B.,that we will tell people to use search when the database gets large enough(maybe). The whole purpose of a forum is to ask questions. If members use the search function and don't find the proper answers they may leave for good.

I think a good many do read the posts to find what they need.We also keep in mind that all members have different levels of computer related knowledge. What may be clear to one person, may not be to another.

We are trying our best to keep everybody happy.

I stay clear of the word "lazy".You must remember we are here to give people answers. There are search engines, yes, but you won't get the personal interaction that you get here.Just because somebody asks a question does not make them"lazy".

I like forums because I can get direct answers.Search engines are impersonal, and lots of dead links, and popups too.You can spend a lot of time looking for things!I would take a forum such as this one anyday.;)

You raise some important question/concerns,and we appreciate your comments!;)
