what do i do with this file

hi everybody,my name is john, i come on this site lots but never really post anything but im wondering what i do.

ok, i've been busy backing up my ps2 games with pauls exellent dvd decrypter tutorial ,but i havent got my ps2 chipped yet ,hoping to get it done this week with messiah 2 ,anyway this the question when i read the disk with dvd decrypter i make 2 files on my hard drive a big iso image (the game ) and a small MDS file about 5kb in size , what do i do with this file (if anything)as when i write the iso image i dont think it takes the MDS file just the iso and ive no way of checking if the disks work till i get it chipped, im not worried about wasting disks only burnt 5 so far but is this small file important

cheers john

I'm new here too but i can help since i have made a handful of successful backups of PS2 games in the past week. I know what you are talking about with the 2 files. Do what i did, totaly disgaurd that tinny file. Just take that big GIG file and burn it at 1x speed for minimal errors. I use TDK media and have been seeing better and better results as i get more comfortable with DVD-R burning. I use the swap magic DVD disk and Slide card, its a very affordable and super effective replacement for a risky and pricy modchip in my eyes. Never had a problem with it. and the cost is $35.00 :)

I use Decryptor for read and RecordNow Max 4.5 to write. Its just that easy. :) enjoy

thanks thats just what i've been doing, getting my ps2 chipped tomorrow from reputable pc shop man approx £80 0r $120 i think :D

Sure it cost you ONLY $35.00(i think USD) but is it worth ruining your new ps2 machine. The reason a modchip may be expensive is because its' safe and causes no harm to your unit. It also depends on what modchip you get. You could've gotten a crappy neo key and swap discs for $30 USD and it would cause absolutely no harm to your unit. When your ps2 stops functioning then that's $250(CAD, I don't know how much it is elsewhere). Bottom line the slide card method is harmful to ur system.

@ps2king its currently £60 here in the uk to have a faulty PS2 exchanged for a 3 month warrenty reconditioned unit from SONY courier exchange you also get a BRAND NEW dual shock 2 pad with the exchange so long as you give them your old one lol :)

but thats the price i paid when i got a PS2 from someone second hand and found it was fritzed :(

Welp, i never heard of the slide card killing anyones PS but if you guys think its that bad, maybe i'll just get me a flip top case. AFter paying $5.00 for my Ps1 Stealth3 mod chip in 1997 and installed it my self, i refuse to pay $100's of dollers for the PS2 setup. Anyone see anything wrong with the fliptop?

The reason it costs $100 is because getting into the Mainboard is tough!! You have to take apart practically the whole unit.

Just think of like this:

Problem: A swapless chip (messiah) vs a Swapping chip/method (flip tops, or no solder mods)

Hypothesis: Which is going to wear out your laser faster?

Logic: Think of it this way. Fliptop/no solder mod: Everytime you put a swap disc in, your laser reads it, then you swap it with the backup.

Messiah: simply put the backup in.

back to the hypothesis, which laser will be worn out more?

Well if you have to put in 2 discs EVERYTIME before you play a backup then

Conclusion: The no solder/fliptops are going to wear out ur laser faster because your laser has to read the swap discs and the backup. Not only that ****THE GEARS ON YOUR CD/DVD TRAY WILL ALSO MALFUNCTION 2X FASTER****

Use of data: Think twice before you go in for a no solder mod or flip tops. :)

Gamesharks, Action Replays, and Swap magic Discs are the same. Swap magic Discs are more efficient though in booting games. They do not act like modchips but as the booting software. So you can use either one of the three two boot backups on your already modified ps2.
