What CD-ReWriter do you recomend?

hmmmm from what i gather about the F1 serjer the only great thing about it is the cdr etching that disk t@2 but thats only great if you are not burning a full disk as you need space to fit the t@2 on the cdr as well as the data bleh !!

My puter store told me that they bought a load in stock only to be selling them off at least half the price a month later as no one wanted them!?, and those who bought them were unhappy with them !?

I have a plex 12/10/32S (still burning fine) bought when it was worth paying the Xtra for a plex

but now LiteOn has to be value for money they are just about giving em away.

@nunomad look here

Yeah,maybe..I`ve just been to the LiteOn site-looks to have good specs for the money.
I`ve also heard some good reports on the Asus CRW-4816A 16/48/48.
Wonder how that stacks up against the LiteOn...?

LiteOn isn't so picky with media and can read at least 2 different audioprotections.....Asus none....

agree with roadworker :) my asus drives burner & dvdrom r somewhat picky with media ....if media is kind of scratched ,it may or may not read....however,it is supposed 2 be able 2 deal with data protection :)
however if u go 4 asus,better buy the cdrw5224a instead of cdrw4816a

I have both Plextor and Lite-On burners and in my opinion the Lite-On are a tremendous speed beast but it does not compare to the reliability of the Plextor in SCSI.

And yes you have to eat less for a few days in order to buy a Plextor.

Thank you again for your help, everybody.

I have found these reviews at CDFreaks, that can be useful for others:

LiteOn LTR-52246S:

Plextor Premium:
_http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/112

And it seems that the Plextor has some advantage.

I will start looking for prices for both of them here in Portugal before I decide.

The BIG FACTOR here is ALWAYS going to be PRICE as PLEXTORS have always been a high price but you have the 2 yr warrenty that makes up for the high price i suppose !?

Least the high price for my PLEXTOR was justified when it died ..it was replaced free of charge in less than 1 week and this was after just over a year of some serious usage daily :)

:)

Here in Portugal, and since April 03, the warranty of all products is 2 years.
That is a consequence of a directive (i. e. legislation) from União Europeia (European Union), so I think that all other EU countries will have the same 2 years warranty.

So, in fact, that announcement is just for selling purposes, it's marketing, because it sells an advantage which is mandatory.

If you want, I can identify the directive.

I've got a Cendyne, a Maddog, a LiteOn and a DRI that all cost me $9.95 each after rebate. They have worked out perfectly.

i'm very happy with my F1; :) in my opinion the advantages are:
- the extremely good DAE (digital audio extraction) capability
- capability to handle all AudioCD copy protections
- Audio Mastering Quality Recording

the minus: a half year after production stop you won't find a new F1 anymore; last one i saw at www.geizhals.at was a USB2 version for 329,- €

Can you, spanish, brithish and french people tell me links to hardware shops in Spain, Britain and France, so that I can compare prices?

Thanks,

nunomad
