What CD-ReWriter do you recomend?

Help me on this, please.

I want to to buy a new CD-(Re)Writer.

I have read that Plextor is a good brand, but there may be others.

I would like one that meets these criteria (seen in this site: http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_writers.shtml - [the page is outdated but gives good orientation] and any others you would find necessary:

Fully supports for 80 Minutes CD-R's.
Supports OverSizing/OverBurning.
Writes CD-R's at 4x speed or better.
Should be able to copy Protected CD's.
Must support TAO, DAO, Multi-Session & Incremental Packet Writing.
Must support RAW Writing (used in CloneCD & BlindWrite).
The firmware must be Flashrom upgradeable.

What is your advise?

Thanks,

nunomad

PLEXTOR are good but expensive :(

most users here have liteons and swear by them as the best thing out there :)

and what ive read i can agree that they are good burners :)

altho i use PLEXTOR as personal preference :)

LITEONS are more popular and half the price :)

lmao me a millionaire POACHER lol i think not lol :)

heheh altho my 1st plextor was a 412c caddy loader which i still have and it still works a paltry slowwwww 12x read 4 x write no re-write SCSI burner that cost me a whopping £250 it was £300 but i got the price down to £250 and even got my SCSI card thrown in free too :)

lol millionaire ...NOT !! :)

This one i have now is a 24x10/40a IDE recently replaced by PLEXTORs 2 yr warrenty as i wore the 1st one out lol that cost me £110 a year ago :)

heheh a liteon costs as little as £35 if you look around :)

but you get what you pay for :)

my PLEXTOR took serious hammering over a year long period untill it expired and stopped working ....but on the upside i got it replaced in LESS THAN 1 WEEK from PLEXTOR BELGIUM that was including pickup and return FREE OF CHARGE :)

which i dont think you would get that quick service with a LITEON for warrenty!?,

altho at LITEON prices they are throwaway burners practically :)

CD Writer

I'm sticking to Plextor as mine goes on and on, never gives me any trouble.
I've never owned a Liteon but there are a lot of satisfied owners around on this board that like them so they must be reliable as well.
I suppose if you have the spare dosh get a Plextor but if funds are tight opt for a Liteon.

Liteon :)

They good, cheap, very reliable, can back up most things U throw at it, in all the time i had mine ( a replacement 4 a dodgy artec) i have never had 1 single coaster & it burn flawlessly :)

If U want fancy tricks & gimmicks & have the dosh, the plextor premium is supposed 2 be a goodie, but lets face it, if U got 2 much data 2 fit on a cd, use another 1, cause i think that the HDrec feature only works with compatable drives, ie plextor, if i wrong, some please correct me :)

There is currently a big CDRW drive glut on the market... and since LiteOn is one of the biggest manufaturers... deals are everywhere.

In the US, Circuit City had the brand new LiteOn 523252 (LTR-52327S) boxed drive for free... all you had to pay was taxes (you bet your butt I picked one up ;) ). There were three rebates to do, but what the hey. Best Buy has the same drive this week (28 Sept.-4 Oct.) for $20 plus taxes (rebates again).

Not sure what deals are in all your area, but look around.

Tried a few Plextors in the last year for the first time in a while and was not impressed at all.

40X was the worst as it was as slow as hell and would not burn @ 40X no matter what media used and lead in etc was dire. Compared to a Litey 40125S the Litey was prolly twice as quick overall doing a batch of 30 CDR's.

Using a 52X LiteOn at present and have to say it is awesome!

Shame it was so damn expensive at £30 ! :p lol

If U are a peon like me LiteOn
If U are a millionaire Plextor

;):):)
I`m no millionaire-far from it-I`ve had a Plexwriter 12/10/32A for many years now-it`s never failed/broken down and I`ve never burned a coaster yet....That`s called quality and reliability...

Well, thank you all for your kind advise.

I have made my mind: I will buy a Plextor... or a Liteon. :)

Can you give me references for particular Plextor or Liteons, so that I can find and buy easily?

Thanks,

nunomad

I have a plex 12/10/32S (still burning fine) bought when it was worth paying the Xtra for a plex

but now LiteOn has to be value for money they are just about giving em away.

I advise Plextor Premium. It can backup all protections now
WRONG

I have a premium and it can´t backup the latest safedisk protection.

My liteon 48126@48246 can do it !!!!!
