w2000 problems

i used windows98 and every things went good

now i installed windows2000 pro , with aspi installedm , asus cd rom EIDE

and when i rip songs , my hardisk makes small pauses..(like a controller)


why?

can somebody help me?

and the rip process is more slow then w98se
 
The techology is the reson. The NT technology is more stable than the 9x. From now on you will see less blue screen, but the speed is slower.

Loose some - Win Some.
 
Could be that you need Chipset (VIA, SIS, or whatever you have) Drivers to enable DMA to the CDROM, or maybe you just need to enable DMA - ControlPanel/System/HardDriveIDEControllers/Properties - enable DMA over PIO.

Having moved to XP, I have updated drivers built-in to XP for my VIA chipset on my Abit KT7A-RAID, and have DMA enabled. Also am running Adaptec ASPI 4.71 and all is well.
