URL managers, looking for a new one.

Hello m8s

I have been using 3 years ago a nice program called Acqurl (_www.acqurl.com) that at the momment was the best solution to manage and keep the URLs organized in a database in an easy to access and functional way. I payed $US30 for it and it has served me well after all this time. I have tried maybe 5 other programs before buying this one and I disliked all of them, they were way too compicated and didn't offer you the simple interface of acqurl that is very fast for reachng the information that you need, and that is important to me. The major gripe with acqurl is that it is slow when you have to search the database. I have over 1500 sites in the database and everytime that you have to run a search it has to load in memory all the database and it takes like 10-15 seconds for doing it, and that is an eternity when you see how short this kind of process takes for other programs (not exactly from the same type). I think ths is due to the way that AcqUrl stores the information, it uses a single and small text file, not a database file.

Do you have any good recommendation about a good bookmark manager? I know that there must be people here that don't use the plain "FAVORITES" in Windows. I am looking for something with these carachteristics:

- Fast (not bloated)
- Simple interface and easy to access it (the less clicks, the best)
- Easy method for importing the links (single click for importing the webpage that is in IE at the momment).
- That let you search the database contents without delay
- That you can save Usernames, passwords and notes related to the specific site.

Thank you very much for any infoermation guys.

Some of the "notepad replacements" - in the treepad style, seem to have this kind of functionality - back with some when I find the right ones.

And then exactly the right post slipped by in alt.comp.freeware to save me having to search - some days, you're just LUCKY!

Keynote - HTTP links are live, and while you have to see the full url, you can add as many comments on the page as you like.
