Unrecognized CD

Have recently purchased Verbatims CD-R 1-32x discs. The problem I am havin is that only have were usable. HP 8200i burner didn't recognize the other half.

Is there a program that I can use to get these dang things to work? I can't fantom that half of them are bad. Any suggestions would be most appreciative. Thanks to all.

Can you provide more information? Any changes in your hardware or software since you burned the "good" ones? Will the burner recognize, and work with, any other disks? What software are you using to burn? When you say "didn't recognize" do you mean you get a "drive not ready" errror?

Do you happen to have both HP's DLA and Nero installed? If so that might be source of the problem.

Thank you...most helpfull. But why only half of them bein not usable? Also can you reccomend a good buner but not toooooo expensive.

Sorry for this question away from origin.
Poko, I have burned some data cd`s on smart by cd`s, these is not possible to read in some older readers, but if I burn on sony cd`s all function well. Can you explain the difference of these cd marks.

I also wonder how memorex and mmore cd`s are, in the light of function on many different readers ?
