Too much ram

I recently added 512mb ram (windows 2000). I didn't think it was really necessary (not running anything that needs a lot of ram), but it was very cheap, so why not.

The only effect it has is that programs start faster, but only slightly.
There always is well over 500mb free. What can be done to benefit from this? How can it be used in order to speed things up more?

use the start up command, or just put some stuff in the bar next to the clock, like open office, mozilla, and so on.
