Those old Codec blues

If I uninstall an app that has registered its "own" codecs, will it unregister\delete them. I have ended up with TFM giving me the `sound but no picture` (well a black screen with some red lines at the bottom) I have installed a few apps that have `taken over` I think, but am not sure which to remove. If I uninstall all of them, will I need to re- register the original codecs and if so which?
Any ideas Guys\Girls :)

I recently installed FFshow.

ffdshow should be fine and you can disable what it decodes easily in the config. What build though?

I seem to recall that CCE encodes a black screen with some red sometimes when feed an AVISynth error. The error is black with red text and I think it gets distorted as CCE expects a 720x576/480 source.

Thanks for the reply celtic_druid
I uninstalled about 5 different conversion apps, then installed xviD 1.0.3 and every thing is back to normal :)
Oh, ffdshow version 20050510
