I have not installed Win 2000 in years but I'm skeptical to try after seen XP Pro. It is just kind of outdated and slow compare to other OS. let me know if you're satisfied.*ChRiS said:Whatever your previouslly installed OS was, for me it was 2000 Pro.

I have W2K advanced server - WinXP - ME on same pc.
I only use W2K. It is the most stable os from Microsoft ever.
Not sluggish, until now, no bluescreens, no hangs.
It is up , day after day, no probs. And now you also get all drivers to this os I think. It also support Usb 2 firewire etc...
Maybe it is boring with no crashes,but...

Ya. Definately windows is boring without crashes, like having no windows if there isn't any crash. Can you please tell me if you are using any Nero & CloneCd in Windows 2000? Do you use latest SP 3 for Win 2000? thankssvgusta said:Sammie .

Nero works fine in 2000 with SP3; so it does in XP as well. I truly believe XP SP1 is more stable than 2000. Has more control, drivers for hw support, etc.
CloneCD works in both as well.
For CDRWin3.x, I have had no probs with Adaptec ASPI 4.71 and 4.72 ... some people have issues and use 4.60.
2000 is just NT 5.0
XP is NT 5.1 with Win9x support and features (of Win98 and Me).

Although Nero does not need Adaptec's ASPI layer, it DOES need one. Nero just uses its own ASPI...which sometimes causes problems for proggies that need ASPI.Sammie said:

You are correct that CloneCD does need ASPI, but ther are lots of proggies that do...burnatonce, EAC (for burning), most CDR info tools, DVD software, etc., etc.
I installed NTI 6.0 Platinum yesterday and the progy. installed ASPI layer but I don't know if either Adaptec or it's own. Anyway works good with Windows XP Pro SP1, simple to use for me, Probably stable and bug free compare to Nero. Time will tell but looks promising.
