Testing by burning onto dvdrw first

Obviously I have done something wrong so need advice.

I understand that you can burn copies of your dvd's you wish to backup onto a dvdrw first to see if the process works ok. I assume you can then re use the dvdrw.

I did this and cannot any longer write to the dvdrw. Can any kind soul offer me some guidance, so I don't waste any more dvdrw's, or is there a way to salvage this disc?

Steve.........

Is it a DVD-RW or DVD+RW ?
Wot burning prog are you using ?
You need to 'erase' or 'format' the disk, options for this will be in the program you use.
Many programs now realise it is a re-writeable and will ask if you want it erased just before you re-write on it.

Yes, I know the above, but the last one I tried to erase , I could not.

I shall be trying again soon.

By the way, I have "Datawrite dvdrw's"

in some Nero versions there was a bug with erasing; you didn't mention which version you are using; install the latest update v5.5.10.56 and try it again;

of course, it could be a media incompatibility too; go for Ritek media;

@GrannyGruntbuck Can you provide us with a little more info such as MAKE /MODEL of your DVD burner :)

this may help us a little more to resolve your problem :)

I have had a couple of Princo DVD-RW's that failed to erase. Nothing could format them until months later when I bought a new different model burner was I able to reclaim them.
So , if you have access to a different burner , try that.
