Temperatures

Has anybody got any info or can give me a link to a site that can tell me the best temperatures that hard drives and processors should run at.( i am starting to get paranoid about overheating of components since i fitted a new case fan)

ecs(elitegroup) K7S5A motherboard (just flashed the bios to the latest version)
AMD XP2000+ processor and the hard drive is a 60 gig maxtor 7200 ide:D

oh yeah doh
Motherboard 32 c
cpu idle 44 c load 52c
hard drive 44 c
cooling fans 5625 rpm on the cpu
2679 rpm on the chassis:p

thanks poacher but i would still like anybody to post details of any sites where i can get info on for example what the optimum hard drive temp is:)

Well,

I have to ask no matter how dumb i feel at the moment:eek:

How does one verify the temperatures you guys are talking about? I sure would like to check mine.

Thanks for any help.

No dumb questions here bud, but dumb answers..... sometimes ;)

Most recent motherboards have a motherboard sensor and a processor sensor. Some have the added ability to read the temp off the processor die and others have an option for an external probe sensor that can be plugged into the Mobo. Check your manual to see what you may have.

Many BIOS have the option to view the temps in the BIOS options at startup. But in Windows, you will need a proggie to see them. I have always found that Motherboard Monitor is the best proggie for this. It has lots of fun options besides temp monitoring as well. Check it out......

Make sure to check out the "Motherboard List" link to see of your Mobo is supported and how to set it up.

If your temp. is not rising above 60 degrees then there is no problem at all. The most cpu's can work up to 75 degrees. But they don't like it
