System Restore Prob and more

Hi All
M8 of mine is running xp pro and all of a sudden the system restore tab has disappeared from System Properties,
if tried using start ,prog,acc it says that it has been disabled by system administrator
same thing happens when using the command promt,

forgot to mention that he is administrator.

it seems like a monologue, sorry for that; :eek:
might be no one here had this problem before; myself always disables System Restore and uses Ghost instead;
Did you tried M$ knowledge base allready?

He doesnt use system restore either it's just one of the
symptoms of the problem,

He's got a ghost image but think its fairly old so he'd still have a
bit of work, still may have to use it

Would like to sort it out tho,
going to try knowledge base in the meantime,thanx for that

You might try to “Repair” Windows XP Pro.

Checked the knowledge base=nothing

another prob showed up when he ran AVG antivirus it would cut out after
a short time and it could'nt be uninstalled

He was running this along with ad-aware pro
Tried to run the recovery console ,he couldnt remember is password :eek:
so went ahead and tried to repair it(didn't think it would take so long)
after repair it was just the same

Eventually gave up and restored using his old ghost image and all is well,
got a few proggies to install now but at least its working

Thanx all for your Ideas, pity I couldn't find the prob tho,its kinda
annoying
