I have a video file : avi : 720x440 (1.64:1) : 23.98fps : Bitrate of 1061 Kbps : quality factor 0.14b/px with a video codec - XviD MPEG-4. The audio is 2 channel : 48000 Hz sample rate with bitrate of 128 Kbps and a codec - ATSC/A-52 Dolby AC3. Would appreciate info on how best to convert it to play in a bought home dvd player. Anything I try is taking days to encode - please advise what programs I should use and whether I should convert it to other file types first to achieve inally a dvd - regards

Hi
There are several ways of encoding to DVD, I guess we all have our prefered method.
Check out The Film Machine, do a search for it at the forum here. Also there's an excellent tutorial by Chicken Man for setting up DVD2SVCD, which happens to be my prefered choice. If encoding is all a bit too much and time consuming, there's the option of purchasing a DVD\Divx player that will play most avi file types. I bought one relatively cheap and also a good way of archiving around 6 movies per disc.

Have fun!
