Source Files????

@0xdeadbeef

I've been reading these threads.MackemX has been trying his best to help you.He has explained everything you question(more than once),but still you proceed to agitate. At least that's the way I see it.

We won't tolerate troublemakers here.So my advice is to lay off.

He has spent way too much time with you IMHO.You must read his advice, and be patient. There are others who may require help.

A Little Clarification Please

Hi

if you have files on the Hard Drive, you can create an image and mount it and use DVDStripper on the image. If you cannot mount an image then the only way is to rip the DVD again

cheers :)
Being a newbie, I'm not afraid to ask a dumb question  like.......

I use Nero (& want to continue to do so) because of it's ease of use, advanced analysis, shrink to one dvd, quality burns, etc, etc...
However, I don't like the way it places "the Video has been removed" screens where a segment I have taken out used to be. This is particularly annoying when it's 3 different previews @ the beginning of a Disney movie, and this is the first thing you see on the screen!

This is where DVDStripper comes in! - I want to remove those "Video has been removed" clips from the files that Nero has placed on the HD. So, there has been a lot of talk about mounting in a virtual drive - but when I go into programs like Alcohol, it only allows a virtual drive from a dvd drive.

So, I guess what I am looking for is a step by step (including recommended programs) on how to accomplish the above. (like I said - dropping Nero is NOT an option)..and yes, I've ready both threads here about HD sources, which are more of a philisophical discussion, rather than a good "how to"...

Thanks for the help!

Nero comes with a image software called Nero Imagedrive. You can burn the DVD as a image on the hard disc. This is done by selecting the image recorder in Nero, rather than your burner. It will create a NRG file.

Load the imagedrive software. It will need configuring on the first time. Then load the NRG image into the created virtual DVD rom drive. It will then behave like a actual DVD in the computer but the files on the hard disc. DS can then strip those 'video removed' messages. By previewing the video you will find one at a time and remove it.

BTW, Recode can output the disabled streams as a black screen and taking just a few MB up. It is better than the 'video removed' screen. The bad thing about it and why DS is better, is the disabled streams still run at the original running time.

!!!alternative!!!

I personally use a different program to do what DS does, and you cna download it here, it is completely free... http://shh.dvdboard.de/titlesetblanker.html

Once you have files on HD take a look at what they are, if you don't need them just hit BLANK and the program will replace these files with dummy and very small in size ones.

Cheers

yep, it's a good program for removing complete titlesets :D, but it doesn't yet do titles, chapters or cells :(

I guess it's all down to how much you want to trim the DVD as to what tools you use as some users may require partial titleset blanking

whichever you use, both are free :D but I don't use either as I don't backup DVD's. I just stick in the original these days, probably until DVDR9 comes out :)

I wonder who thought of using the blanking method first?, whoever did, good one matey ;)

Hi MackemX,

I've had a chance to use DVDStripper & I'm very impressed :D - good job!
A couple of quick questions
- going through & trying to find the warning clip that has the script "The opinions expressed in the film are not necessarily blah blah" was unsuccessful - ("Radio") - any idea where they are buried / how to remove them?
- MenuModder - if I delete the button / save, etc, it is still selectable (even though it now doesn't go anywhere), and then the selection seems to freeze for a few moments until I am able to select something else - ideas, pt2?
- lastly, I'm not sure if it is due to Recode disabling / removing clips, or that the Elecard codecs I had to use conflicting with InfoEdit, but if I use Recode first to disable clips, then run DVDStripper, I invariably get an error about an "Invalid file format video_ts.bup", whereas if I run DVDStripper first, then use REcode to shrink, I don't get the error.... no big deal, it justmakes it slightly easier to use Recode first to pop a custom color in a disabled clip which makes it easier to spot in DVDStripper, and also being able to shrink the image first...

Thanks again! :)

they may be subtitles if you cannot find them in the menu items

it freezes?, that's strange as it should basically do nothing so therefore shouldn't hang

it all depends on what Recode is doing to the files and by the looks of things it's doing it wrong :(

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by your error, maybe a snapshot would help. Is it when you ripping the files, playing the files or updating them?
