Sorry But Nero Lost It!

Not being funny, just never ever ever saw any examples of this. Anywhere.

Hey,if it works for you, that's fine!:)
But the program isn't perfect.......none is!
My problems with it,were related to bootable cd's and directory depths with messed up paths.

different people,different problems:

This is just 1 example.......use the search button here or on other cdrforums and you'll find a lot more.:)

I was going to stay out of this, but oh well.....

TYT, just because there are quite a few of us that do not like Nero Burning Rom does not mean you have to take offense or be upset about it. It is beginning to sound like you work for Ahead. ;) Not everyone agrees here and you will find opinions on both sides of every subject. If you feel you are right about Nero and you have no problems with it, good for you. But just because Nero works for you does not mean it works for everyone.

Trying to verify and recreate Nero's problems is not always easy. There is a great deal to take into account. What hardware and software you are using, what settings and speeds, and most importantly..... what you are trying to burn. In you own words you only burn "data cds, or mp3 -> audio cds." Nero in most builds will work fine with these, it's when you try different types of images that Nero becomes a problem.

As Roady suggested search this Forum and I suggest other CDR forums as well. You will discover a great many Nero detractors as well. Most of them are ex-Nero users.

Now, I used to love Nero Burning Rom. It was by far my favorite burning proggie. But when I started burning more advanced images, was where I began to run into troubles. Here are two of my pet peeves with it (there are more but this is already a novel).

1) Nero releases builds that are extreemly buggy far to often. It seems like they would rather have the public be there beta testers. Once all the bugs are verified, they fix them and release a more stable build. There has been a great deal of speculations as to why, but Nero builds prior to version 5.5 were far better and less buggy. I know some peeps who use Nero 5.0 for this specific problem.

2) Nero has a poor image interpreter. If you burn a lot of ISOs, BINs & CUEs (like Moi), you will find that Nero is notorious for getting it wrong.....leaving you with a coaster. Granted, Nero is getting better in this department, but the problem still exists.

Just relax and take the opinions in stride, but there is no reason to be upset about it ;)

ahahaha... err, not upset, no. Just curious. The odd time I actually burn an ISO/bin/whatever, I do actually use nero. Never had a problem, and that's with some *cough* questionably legal iso's from ftps and the like. Most of the time tho, I simply extract the multipart rars to HD, and mount with daemon tools.

Not exactly a huge amount of experience there then.

thanks, gr8 sarcasm - like nero toys.

TYT by all means take the piss Im used to it BUT U are championing a lost cause >>> why do U think hardly anyone has championed nero >> should tell U something.
Why not do as I did TRY some of the other S/ware (as listed above by scarecrow amongst others) then perhaps your fetish with Nero may abate.

PS I dont hate Nero just know there are better burning applications.

By the way did U burn an SVCD in Nero ????

BUT U are championing a lost cause
- I'm 'championing' nothing. If every single person on this board couldn't wait to advise everyone to stay away from daemon tools, I'd be doing the exact same thing, i.e. asking for why?

why do U think hardly anyone has championed nero
- this forum is hugely anti-nero. No offence, but even after checking out the cdrlabs link provided above, with their dedicated ahead software help forum, I'm yet to find any serious backup for the hugely detrimental attitude this place seems to have for ahead's app. Yeah, nero brings out new versions every 10 seconds, but noone forces you to upgrade. And like I said, I've never had any hassle, so... *shrug*. I kinda like it when I know a developer's constantly working to improve their flagship application. End of the day, people have a choice. Free will and all that.

why do U think hardly anyone has championed nero
- should read why do U think hardly many people at this board has championed nero ? imo. I moderate at a general purpose computer orientated forum elsewhere, which I visit a few times each day. Noone there, to the best of my knowledge, over the space of maybe 3 years, has ever had any serious issues with nero either. Roxio? Yes. BBut any other burning app? Nay. None. That's why I'm so baffled as to cdrsoft's severe dislike (?) for nero and the general claims flying around here as to how bad it is. Simple.

Why not do as I did TRY some of the other S/ware (as listed above by scarecrow amongst others) then perhaps your fetish with Nero may abate.
- ahaha, fettish? Because I refuse to go to the hassle of changing cdr apps ? Why the hell should I ? That's kinda claiming I have a WinXP fettish because I run it without any hassles, and refuse to wipe/reload e.g. Win2K on your advice. When nero fails to serve its purpose, or I find a good, solid reason to look elsewhere then I will. Simple. But notice that I magically manage to refrain from slagging off every other piece of cdr software just because nero's the dog's dangly bits for me. Freedom of choice sir, freedom of choice.

By the way did U burn an SVCD in Nero ????
- If I ask in a car forum about advice on which of 2 cars to purchase, I don't expect one of the mods there to tell me to go and buy one of each, and then I'll know which I should have bought. If you can't be arsed to answer a question, I don't need to be told that you can't be arsed.

bleh.

If we said this once we said it a million times B4.
If you happy with you set up, Then don't change It!
As for NeroT it has it's limitations when doing SVCD which I've been told and seen, but so have other programs on the market got limitations within their package.
Sometime's what my seem a joke to someone is very personal to others....Nero.:D
Yes we are having a discussion once again and why not?
TYT bro roll with your Nero, by the why nice debate:)
PS: I go for the car which has a mp3 player....:D :D and no room for the in-laws..

I've use Nero for Burnatonce for data, mp3 CD, ISO, BIN/CUE, SVCD , Over burning and also Bootable CD's since I started burning with a 4x burner and never had any coasters. I wish I could speak that highly about other programs like NTI, Alcohol 120%, Easy CD Creator. In fact I love CloneCD but that wasn't one of the easy programs to use in the past and I've had coaster with it. The only things I don't use nero for anymore is BIN/CUE and protected CD's, so I use CloneCD, CDRWIN. With these programs and my Liteon I've been able to burn anything I wanted to. So I guess I'll stick with what works for me. :D

If you burn data or mp3 mostly,I guess it's still ok........I still like it,even if it has some bugs, every program has bugs......there are thousands and thousands lines of code, written by men...1 typo is enough to mess up a command,so I'm not so naive to believe that it's perfect, nor I intend to slag it off......if you only do some basic burning, you will probably have no probs now or in the future, but a fact is that people have probs with it sometimes.....the developement team of Ahead can't simply test every possible software or hardware configuration to find out if there are incompatibilities.
There will be a Nero 6 in a short while, and it's much easier to release some 5.5.x.x versions to get things ironed out, before the release of version 6(just my opinion ;))
